Issuing Policy

The Eleboards certificate authority is provided as a free system for Eleboards clients running our Eleclient software.

Eleboards system is automated but only provides certificates to a select range of IP addresses.


Eleboards will only approve certification for IP Address within the IETF defined Private IP ranges


IPV4(http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1918)

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)

172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)

192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)


IPV6(http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4193)

Support for IPv6 will be provided in a future release.

At time of printing this is not supported


1 Exception Permitted With Regards To The Above Policy.

1 subdomain of eleboards.com(catest.eleboards.com) will be allowed under this policy. Normal updating and removal policies listed below will still apply to this exemption.

This certificate may reside on one server only and can only be generated by a system administrator for the address catest.eleboards.com.

This subdomain will only be permitted to contain two text files(index.txt and ok.txt). No other certificates containing domain names will be permitted.


This subdomain is provided so that you can/we can test that the Certificate Authority has been installed correctly. 


Updating Policy

Although certificates are valid for 1 year certificates may need to be updated for DHCP Lease reasons.

Certificates that fall under this category are revoked when a new certificate is issued.

The list of revoked certificated is actively updated and is made public as soon as a certificate is revoked.


Device Removal Policy.

When a device is removed from our system we revoke all current certificates for this device.

The list of revoked certificated is actively updated and is made public as soon as a certificate is revoked.
